Katherina Olschbaur explores the transformative and illusionistic qualities of paint. Her diverse compositions deal with the experience of danger and pleasure, where closeness and distance begin to dissolve. She explores the narrative of space in painting, questioning the politics of certainty and predictability. Her inspiration comes from the quotidian and its memory, her downtown Los Angeles studio setting and history of painting. Olschbaur relocated her studio to Los Angeles a year ago. She has been active in the Viennese art scene since 2010....
