Das Plastiksackerl repräsentiert so gut wie kaum ein anderer Gegenstand unsere globale Massen- und Spontankonsumgesellschaft.... Ob Segen oder Fluch, Kult oder Müll, geliebt oder verpönt, das Plastiksackerl polarisiert und spiegelt durch seinen flüchtigen Gebrauch und seine Allgegenwärtigkeit unser globales Konsumverhalten.
Während es auf der einen Seite gesammelt wird, Status stärkt, identitätsstiftend und Kulturgeschichte ist, hat es auf der andern Seite einen zerstörerischen Einfluss auf Ästhetik, Kultur und auf Tier, Natur und Umwelt.

Die Ausstellung "I bäg you!" zeigt 19 künstlerische Positionen zum Thema Plastiksackerl und erzählt dadurch kulturhistorische, ästhetische und politische Plastiksackerl-Geschichten.
Die Ausstellung wird kuratiert von Ida-Marie Corell und basiert auf ihrem 2011 erschienenen Buch "Alltagsobjekt Plastiktüte" Springer Wien New York Verlag.

The plastic bag represents our global mass and spontaneous consumer society. Whether blessing or curse, cult or trash, loved or frowned upon, the plastic bag polarizes and reflects our global consumer behaviour through its fleeting use and its ubiquity.
While it is collected on the one hand, strengthening status, creating identity and cultural history, on the other hand, it has a destructive impact on aesthetics, culture and on animals, nature, and the environment.

The exhibition "I bäg you!" shows 19 positions on the topic of plastic bags and thereby tells cultural-historical, aesthetically and political plastic bag stories.
This exhibition, curated by Ida-Marie Corell, is based on her book "Alltagsobjekt Plastiktüte" (Everyday Object Plastic Bag) published 2011 at Springer Wien New York Verlag .
