This installation is a private commission around the medieval concept of the papal "studium", which later became the "studiolo" of the Italien Renaissance rulers (Este, Montefeltro, Medici). The collaborating artists chose to address the visitor via two principle aims of this conceptual room: a place for study and meditation, as well as a space for the private enjoyment of art, music and poetry. In these rooms, symobls of time (hourglasses) and introspection (mirrors) invariably appeared in the art of the day.... They were reminders of how one spends one´s time wisely, in study and meditation, and regards oneself critically in a Socratic fashion while enjoying life in cultural activity (art, music, poetry ...).
