Neben der Affinität des Beuys'schen Œuvres zu dem von Rodin wird die Ausstellung in der Schirn auch erstmals Beuys' Auseinandersetzung mit dem Werk von Wilhelm Lehmbruck einer eingehenden Betrachtung unterziehen. Über achtzig Arbeiten auf Papier und fünfzehn Plastiken von Beuys, fünfzig Papierarbeiten und zwanzig Skulpturen von Rodin sowie zehn Arbeiten auf Papier und fünf bildhauerische Werke von Lehmbruck bilden das Herz dieser Ausstellung. Daneben werden Dokumente zur Rezeption Rodins in Deutschland in der Zeit von 1900 bis 1960 präsentiert.... (...)

Besides fathoming the affinity between Beuys's and Rodin's Œuvres, the exhibition in the Schirn will also examine in detail for the first time how the former concerned himself with Wilhelm Lehmbruck's work. Over eighty works on paper and fifteen sculptures by Beuys, fifty works on paper and twenty sculptures by Rodin, and ten works on paper and five sculptural works by Lehmbruck will make up the core of the presentation.
