"By blurring, and at the same time defining, spatial boundaries between reality and fiction, Manfred Erjautz addresses the transitory nature of familiar situations and feelings, and unmasks them as temporary concordances. The confrontation with figures that are as close to as they are remote from the world leads to an intermediate level which reveals the divide between the private and the collective. His universe resembles simulated systems - mythologies and other surrogate realities - which show the mechanisms of society in an exemplary way."
