STRUKTUR & ORGANISMUS ist eine Ausstellungsreihe im alten Marillengarten der Schnapsbrennerei Kausl in Mühldorf (Wachau). Für die zweite Ausgabe des jährlich stattfindenden Projekts wurden Steffi Alte, Dan Peterman, Reto Pulfer und Rirkrit Tiravanija eingeladen ortsspezifische Arbeiten zu entwickeln. Der Garten ist seit jeher Projektionsfläche für Sehnsüchte und verklärte Utopien. Man kann ihn nach Ludwig von Bertalanffy als »lebendigen Organismus« beschreiben, dessen Gefüge aus einem Gleichgewicht sich verändernder Kräfte besteht.... Der Biologe und Systemtheoretiker erkannte, dass ein »offenes System« seine innere Struktur bei Veränderungen von aussen selbst umstellt. In diesem Sinn reagieren nicht nur die Künstler auf den Garten, sondern auch der Garten auf die Künstler.

STRUCTURE & ORGANISM is a series of exhibitions at an unusual venue, the old apricot orchard of the Kausl distillery in Mühldorf (Wachau). For the second of the annual projects four artists have developed works for the orchard, responding to the locality and its special features. The orchard has long been a place onto which longings and transfigured utopias have been projected. Following Ludwig von Bertalanffy, it can be described as a »living organism«, whose structural base is a balance of changing forces. This biologist and systems theorist realised that an »open system« adapts its own inner structure to changes from the outside. In this sense it is not only that the artists respond to the orchard but also that the orchard responds to the artists.
