The light catches the figure, the figure catches my eyes, my eyes catch its Shadow, and the Shadow sneaks into my camera only to explode in the dark room....

The Shadow becomes the figure and the figure becomes the Shadow of the Shadow. The Shadow of the Shadow catches my eyes, my eyes catch the light, and the light catches the figure in motion, leaving behind a trail of Shadows...

At other times colors hide the Shadow and expose the figure and sometimes the figure and the Shadow join back together to tell a story...

For me, my work is about finding a balance, the space within the defined and the undefined, the obvious and the hidden, the body and its Shadow.
I exploit the light outside the dark room to free the body from its Shadow and I use the light inside the dark room to free the Shadow from its body...
No longer in a war of tug and pull, each is granted a life of its own. In their own space on the wall, they wait for me to join them back together, a story they offer in return.

Through the exploration of the female body and glance I want to disclose the intermediate state when a body which is profane, thanks to the presence of its Shadow which is abstract, takes on the Shadow's distinctive trait of indistinctness, creating in this way the potential to be perceived as sacred.

I want to find out how much veiling is necessary for the body to be seen as evasive and how much unveiling is necessary for the Shadow to reveal the fleshiness within its constitution.

The Shadow is the visual esthetics that guides my work. The body itself is too sincere in conveying the passing of time on itself - thus it is much easier to observe its Shadow which is immune to the passing of time and to find the esthetics in it.
Nevertheless I want to also show the body confronting its Shadow - the tension arising from this confrontation with its Shadow, in other words, with itself - its unknown part. Upon confrontation I believe there must be an explosion - a seeing of more reality.

For me, then, my work is also about the act: catching it in a snapshot expression and then letting it loose to develop into an action.
The initial snapshot expressions are therefore like fish hooks to me: they drag me into and behind themselves, into the dark room and in front of the computer screen. Out come then the Shadows or the colors, or their fusions.

Exposing what I find behind the initial expressions, they now form the hook to catch viewers’- your attention with - binding the separate manifestations of what I encountered into one common story, waiting there for a voice to order “ACTION!”
