DaDaDa Academy

DaDa Da Academy is a travelling Academy with a strong amount of
artistic freedom, consisting mainly by artists of the Viennese avantgarde
scene. The Academy’s foremost characteristics are improvisation,
interactivity, and a flair for the unexpected. The founding members
(Panos Papadopoulos and Elisabeth Penker) give the baseline and keep
the pace, leaving enough space for experimentation and inventiveness
from other artists incorporated in the group each time. The works
which result reflect their autonomy and their ironic attitude towards the
established order of things, demonstrating vivid elements of sophisticated
criticism, caustic sarcasm and intense irrationality.... Their arbitrary
language explores the different possibilities of the indefinite and elicits
irreconcilably contradictory meanings.

Eirini Papakonstantinou (Curator/ Greek State Museum, Thessaloniki, GR)

DaDa Da Academy operates as overt constellation of artists working
in various media on the intersections of visual art, installation, sound
and poetry. DaDa Da Academy scrutinizes the distinction of (working)
process and artistic oeuvre and – following – of producer and audience.
Putting the deconstruction of visual, linguistic and performative patterns
to the center of interest, DaDa Da Academy fosters the creation of
renewed grammatical structures in the above mentioned areas. The
closure of an artwork is not to be understood as artistic decision but rather
as an exposure to interaction with the audience. This approach
manifests in at times hazardous arrangements, suspenseful settings
embedded in the aesthetic atmosphere of the clean gallery space and being
initial point of a communicative, contextual and multimedial practice.

Jakob Racek (Curator/ Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden Baden, D)
