Ein historisches Ereignis: das Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges. 1995 schreiben Jenny Holzer und der russische Bildhauer Oleg Komov mit zwei Denkmälern dieses Ereignis sichtbar in die Gestalt des Ortes ein, 2000 und 2002 stellt das Projekt "Erlauf erinnert sich ..." sowohl das Ereignis als auch die Denkmäler zur Debatte. Nicht die Vergangenheit steht im Mittelpunkt, sondern ihre kulturell überformte Gegenwart. (aus: Klappentext) On 8 May 1945, American and Sowjet troops met in the small market town of Erlauf in Lower Austria. A historical event: the end of World War Two. In 1995, Jenny Holzer and the Russian sculptor Oleg Komov visibly inscribed this event in the appearance of the town with two monuments. In 2000 and 2002, the project "Erlauf remembers ..." proposed a debate on the event, as well as on the monuments. Not the past is in the center, but its culturally reshaped present. (see: blurb)
