Living and working in Vienna II shows objects, videos, installations, paintings, and drawings by twenty-three young artists and artist teams whose lives and works are based in Vienna. The exhibition selections were made by three international curators
who first had to “conquer” Vienna’s art scene. Similar to Part I of this exhibition series, which is planned for a five year rhythm, the “outside view” should enable a selection unburdened by involvements within the scene and over-familiarity with the relevant actors. Another intention of the concept is the networking and expansion of international interest in recent art from Vienna, which will take concrete form right from the start of the 2005 exhibition through a showing of parts of the exhibition by the Austrian Cultural Forums in New York, Warsaw, and Tokyo.
