Patrycja German analysiert und reflektiert das System Kunst als ein Zusammenspiel von Künstler, Werk und Betrachter. Sie entwickelt Versuchsanordnungen, in denen sie selbst agiert und den Betrachter als Mitspieler konzipiert. So schafft sie Situationen, die in Grundzügen festgelegt sind, den Betrachter jedoch mit verschiedenen subjektiven Beobachtungsmomenten konfrontiert.



* 26.04.1979, 12:35, 17°00 E, 51°06 N - so der Titel der Arbeit und gleichzeitig die Geburtsdaten der Künstlerin Patrycja German.... Für ihre Ausstellung in der Galerie Bernd Kugler beauftragte sie Astrologen mit der Antwort auf die Frage „ Welche Kunst macht diese Künstlerin?“ Diesen standen allerdings nur die oben genannten Daten, nicht jedoch der Name der Künstlerin und damit auch kein Einblick in die Arbeit, zur Verfügung. Die so entstandenen sechs Texte ergänzt Patrycja German durch ein lebensgroßes Selbstportrait, das sie einem Plakat mit ihren Geburtsdaten gegenüberstellt. So entsteht ein Spannungsfeld zwischen der Person, die hinter der Kunst steht und den Geburtsdaten, einer sehr vertraulichen Information, da sie eine Art Geheimcode ihrer Persönlichkeit bildet und intime Dinge und Beweggründe preisgibt. So einzigartig wie ein Fingerabdruck- etwa 25.000 Jahre wird ein Mensch mit denselben Daten geboren- spiegeln sich als Bezugsebene in einer Symbolsprache Talente, Persönlichkeit und zentrale Lebensthemen wieder.



Das vordergründige Motiv der Astrologie stellt, ähnlich wie zuvor verwendete Sujets, z.B. Pheromone oder das Kartenlegen, ein Angebot an den Betrachter dar. Da ihm ansonsten alle Bilder und unterhaltsamen Elemente entzogen werden, entsteht eine Leerstelle, die zur Projektionsfläche wird, die den Ausstellungsbesucher auf neue Weise zur Imagination anregt.









Patrycja German analyzes and reflects the art system as an interplay of artist, artwork and viewer. She conducts experiments in which she is the protagonist, conceiving the viewer as a participant. Thus she creates situations that have set outlines, but confront the viewer with various subjective moments of observation.



* 26.04.1979, 12:35, 17°00 E, 51°06 N– is both the title of an artwork and the time and place of birth of the artist Patrycja German. For her exhibition at Galerie Bernd Kugler she commissioned astrologists to answer the question “What art does this artist make?” However, they were only provided with the above data, not with the artist’s name, so they had no insight into her work. Patrycja German combines the six texts that resulted with a life-size self-portrait, juxtaposed with a poster featuring her date and place of birth. This creates tension between the person behind the art and the birth data—highly intimate personal information, since it forms a kind of secret code for her personality, disclosing intimate themes and motives. As unique as a fingerprint—every 25000 years someone is born at the same time in the same place—this is a field of reference that mirrors talent, personality and key life issues in a symbolic language.



Like fields previously addressed by the artist, such as pheromones or cartomancy, the ostensible theme of astrology constitutes an offer made to the viewer. As she or he is deprived of all other images and entertaining elements, a void emerges that becomes an object of projection, exciting the viewer’s imagination in a new way.
