Sculpture at the Natural History Museum Ping shows a model of Schiphol Airport. It can be considered as a metaphor of notions of life and death, persisting also in the Natural History Museum: departure - the beginning of a journey (birth), arrival - its end (death). Ping links cultural developments and natural processes. He often comments on the oppressive influence the textual has on history, culture and philosophy. Cultural interactions and references to his own Chinese heritage play an important role in this work. (Text: Manifesta)
