Photographs at the Chabot Museum The artist shows two different groups of women: one group of New York women in the prime of their life, another of elderly women from a farming town in Norway. The contrast is striking; it not reveals differences in age, ethnic backgrounds and lifestyles, it also illustrates the ageing process itself. The portraits show vulnerability caused, which goes back to the tension between their natural and self-conscious looks. (Text: Manifesta)
