Sebastian Brauneis deals with the 20th anniversary of the Elevate Festival with both precision and a very accessible, low-barrier lightness. His work while… focuses on the meaning of tempo and movement in terms of the fleeting and idealised feeling of “being-in-the-moment”.
Utilising the narrative technique Stream of Consciousness, the director lets the movie pass the last 20 years of the Elevate festival in review. The sequences are arranged non-linear and evoke free associations in the viewer, which the artist contextualizes artistically. In this “collage of tempo” made of fast and slow moments the diversity and intensity of the festival become apparent and/or are paraphrased. Made of graphic elements, metaphorical and concrete pictures as well as social media snippets and photographs of the festival, both the text and its illustration provide food for thought in line with the cultural vision of the Elevate Festival - a fusion of interdisciplinary and multimedia ideas in a future-oriented and closely interwoven cultural landscape.
Until the 9th of April the movie will be shown in the open air cinema NonStopScheiner around the clock in the public space of the city of Graz.
