FLUCA in Sofia

This summer, the glamorous, weird art container FLUCA will travel from Plovdiv to Sofia. The trip is in connection with the successive presidency of Bulgaria and Austria in the Council of the EU.

The Austrian Cultural Pavilion is an innovative and long-term project in the field of contemporary art - initiated by the Open Arts Foundation and the Austrian Embassy Sofia and supported by Plovdiv 2019 , the Federal Chancellery of the Republic of Austria in partnership with Sofia Municipality and Plovdiv Municipality .

For the first time, the audience in Sofia will have the opportunity to watch a lively and constantly changing (in terms of content and location) platform, presenting some of the most experimental and dynamic projects of contemporary visual arts, music, performance, architecture, literature and dance. - work of Bulgarian and international artists. The program is extremely rich, and will feature works by artists from Bulgaria, Austria, Israel, the Western Balkans, Germany, France, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.

The FLUCA stage opens to invite the audience not only to watch, but also to actively participate in the creation of a remarkable artistic production.

FLUCA proves that contemporary art is dynamics, empathy, freedom to overcome and destroy clichés. The progressive audience of Sofia will meet remarkable artists coming from all over Europe. [...]

In September, FLUCA - Austrian Cultural Pavilion returns to Plovdiv after its Sofia tour - ready to welcome 2019 - the year in which the city will be the European Capital of Culture.
