Solo exhibition Valerie Habsburg. The Hands of my Mothers

The title of the exhibition refers to a work by the artist Valerie Habsburg. The series, The Hands of My Mothers, is intended to commemorate mothers and make their memories tangible, visible and legible.
The word mother stands for all mothers, not only for the biological mothers, grandmothers and ancestors, but also for the mother figures who accompany our lives - and for the artistic mother(s)*. Artists often refer to their works as their children. They give birth. They are mothers. The exhibition shows recent works by Valerie Habsburg, in which she has intensively devoted herself to the theme. Through objects, text, photography, performance and video installation, she interweaves everyday life, traces of the real as well as the putative and the fictional.
