Sarah Sternat presents an installation in which she dedicates herself to the interaction between herself and her immediate environment. Thematically, concepts such as relationship, body and order are in the foreground. Sternat creates sculptures that formally resemble scraps of skin or fragments of a body. The works consist of various materials, such as soap, wood, textiles, everyday objects. To Sternat’s mind, the materials she chooses in a sense also choose her. They leave imprints on the artist in the same way that she leaves traces on them. The artist is interested in the residues left behind when one thing is transferred to another.
